As you might recall, last year we added the BRBL and adjusted your default spam settings to knock out a good chunk of annoying spam from hitting your inbox. Well, now we’re taking it a step further.

Commtouch Premium Antispam
One of the great features of SmarterMail 6.x is an add-on licensing system that allows us to purchase third-party services (which have been tested & integrated within SmarterMail) that enhance the functionality of the mail server. One of these supported add-ons is Commtouch Premium Antispam, which we’re providing to you at NO ADDITIONAL COST.

So what’s so special about Commtouch Antispam?
Commtouch Antispam doesn’t evaluate message content, its Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD) technology analyzes Internet traffic in real time, recognizing and protecting against new spam threats as they emerge. Benefits of this technology include:

* High detection rate — more than 97% of spam
* Low number of false positives — less than 1 in 1.5 million reported false positives
* Ability to catch any type of spam (including any language, format, and even image-based messages) — a major advantage of analyzing Internet patterns over message content.

Here’s what you need to do to get started…

Nothing. On Monday morning at 7:00 AM PDT (GMT -7), you’ll automatically have the added protection. Commtouch will replace the current SpamAssassin feature on the server and will assign spam ‘weights’ in a similar fashion.
